Centre Parcs Cease Advertising in the Daily Mail

This weekend it has been announced that UK short break holiday organisation Centre Parcs has ceased advertising in the Daily Mail following a homophobic column on Tom Daley and his partner.

Tom Daley and his partner Dustin Lance Black who met in 2013 are expecting their first child together, only for Daily Mail columnist Richard Littlejohn to write an article entitled “Please don’t pretend two dads is the new normal”.

Following the Centre Parcs announcement hundreds of people responded on Twitter to congratulate them and promise they would book holidays after their positive action.

Centre Parcs UK responded to Twitter user Evanderstap who asked “My son so wants me to book at your parks, but how can I do that if you support homophobia?”

In response Centre Parcs replied:

1/2 We take where we advertise very seriously and have a number of steps to prevent our advertising from appearing alongside inappropriate content. We felt this placement was completely unacceptable and therefore ceased advertising with the Daily Mail with immediate effect.

Following the article Stop Funding Hate contacted a number of organisations to call out their advertising in the Daily Mail and Mail Online.
